Settings For Outlinx Pages
Special options for Outlinx pages
You have control over a number of settings for Outlinx pages. These can be found in the ellipses menu. You'll see different options depending on if you are the owner of the page (ie you created it), you saved it, or if you're just viewing it.
Page Metrics
At the top of the menu you'll see some useful metrics. Here you can see the user name of the creator of the page. Below the username you'll see the word "Owner" to indicate that this is the user who created and therefore owns the page. You can also see how many times the Outlinx code that the page is linked to has been scanned, and also how many times this Outlinx page has been visited.
Allow anyone to edit
If you're the owner of the page you'll see the option for "Allow anyone to edit". If you set it to on then anyone who opens the page can edit the contents on the page. If you set it to off then no other users, other than you, can edit the Outlinx page.
If you choose to set "Allow anyone to edit" to on, then the button "Notification for page edits" will become activated. Set "Notifications for page edits" to on to receive notifications anytime another user edits the page. Set this option to off if you don't want to receive notifications for page edits.
Comments enabled
If you're the owner of the page you'll see the option for "Comments enabled". By default this option is set to on, which enables the Comments space. You can disable the Comments space for a page by turning this option off.
If you choose to set "Comments enabled" to on, then the button "Notification for comments" will become activated. Set "Notification for comments" to on to receive comments anytime another user posts a comment to the page. Set this option to off if you don't want to receive notifications for new comments.
Users must request to save
If you're the owner of the page you'll see the option for "Users must request to save". This feature allows the owner of an Outlinx page some control over who can save the page they've created. By default this option is set to off.
When this option is turned on other users, who open this page, cannot save the page to their Folders without being approved by the owner of the page. In this case when another user does request to save the page you (the owner) will receive a notification that someone requested to save the page, and you can choose to approve the request or deny it. The user who requested to save the page will not see the page in their Folders list until it's been approved. The requestor will receive a notification when their request has been approved or denied.
When this option is turned off, then any user who opens the page is able to save it to their Folders for future reference. In this case other users can save the page without any approval by you (the owner).
Remember that currently the only way for a user to open an Outlinx page is if they first scan an Outlinx code that's linked to the page. There's currently no way to share pages directly from the app. And there's no way for users to search for pages, that they haven't already scanned and saved, directly from the app.
Manage save requests
This option is only available if you're the owner of the page and the option "Users must request to save" is set to on. When the icon is purple there are save requests to approve or deny. When the icon is grey there are no save requests to take care of. When you tap this option you'll be presented with the "Save Requests" manager screen.
The upper portion of the "Save Requests" manager screen shows any user who has requested to save this page. Next to the user are two buttons. Choose "yes" if you want to approve their save request. Choose "no" if you want to deny their request.
The lower portion of the screen shows all of the users who have been approved to save the page. In other words these are the users who have the page saved to their Folders. You can remove a person from the list by swiping left on the user's name and tapping the red delete button. When you remove a person from this list you're essentially saying you don't want them to have the page saved to their Folders anymore. So the page will be deleted from their Folders, they won't be able to access the page without scanning the Outlinx code it's linked to, and they will receive a notification about the change of status.
Link to Outlinx QR Code
Use this feature if you want to link the page to an Outlinx QR code. You can link pages to as many Outlinx QR codes as you want, but Outlinx QR codes can only be linked to one page or folder at a time.
When you tap this button you'll be presented with the Scan screen. Now just scan the Outlinx code you want to link the page to. The scan preview will pop up with a message that says "Tap to Link". Just tap that preview message and the page is now linked to the Outlinx QR code. You'll receive an on-screen notification that says "Linked" if done successfully.
Find linked Outlinx QR codes
You can use this feature to help find the Outlinx QR code that's linked to the page. When you tap this button you'll be presented with the Scan screen. You can scan different Outlinx QR codes one by one and the preview message will tell you when the correct linked code has been scanned.
Save to your Folders
You'll see this option if you scan an Outlinx QR code that's linked to a page that another user owns, and the page has "Users must request to save" set to off. Tap this button and the Outlinx page will be saved to your Folders list. Once the page is in your Folders list you can open it anytime directly from the app (without scanning the Outlinx QR code).
Request to save to Folders
You'll see this option if you scan an Outlinx QR code that's linked to a page that another user owns, and the page has "Users must request to save" set to on. Tap this button and the owner of the page will be notified that you'd like to save the page. The owner of the page then has to approve or deny the request. Once the owner has taken action on the save request you, the requestor, will be notified.
