# Outlinx Mobile App Guide

Welcome to the user guide for the Outlinx mobile app. We designed our app to be as intuitive as possible. But if you would like some extra help, or get stuck, you can find pretty much anything you need to know in this guide. If the information you're looking for isn't here feel free to reach out to us at <support@outlinx.app>

# Getting Started

# Getting Some Outlinx Goods

## Where To Get Outlinx

Outlinx consists of two things: 1. the mobile app, and 2. Outlinx goods. For now we offer stickers. In the future we plan to offer more items with Outlinx codes on them. You can purchase Outlinx stickers on Amazon and on our website shop. We offer a few more styles and sizes on our website.

We do ship internationally, so if you live outside the US and want to purchase some Outlinx please send an email to <support@outlinx.app> with the style and quantity that you'd like. We typically respond within 12 hours.

# Creating An Outlinx Account

Create an account to get the most out of Outlinx.

Having an account is what allows you to create, edit, and interact with Outlinx pages. You'll need an account to take advantage of all the features, although you don't necessarily need an account to use the app. Without an account you can still use the Outlinx app to scan Outlinx codes and view the pages they're linked to - you just won't be able to interact with the pages in any way.

## How To Create An Account

If you intend to create, edit, or interact with Outlinx pages then you please create an account. It's free! We offer 4 methods to create an account. Please remember which method you used to create your Outlinx account.

1. Provide an email and password: Simply provide an email and enter an 8 digit password. You'll receive an email to verify the email address you entered. If you don't receive the confirmation email please contact us at <support@outlinx.app> and we'll take care of you.
2. Google Sign In: Sign in with your Google account.
3. Facebook Sign In: Sign in with your Facebook account.
4. Apple Sign In: Sign in with your Apple ID. One benefit of this method is your email address is anonymized in our database. This method is currently only available on iOS (not on Android).

## What If I Don't Want To Create An Account?

If you don't create an account you can still use the Outlinx mobile app to scan Outlinx codes and view the pages they're linked to. You just won't be able to interact with the pages in any way like editing, creating, saving, etc.

## Can I Delete My Account?

You can delete your account anytime. To delete your account follow the steps described in the User Settings section of this guide. When you delete your account all of the data you entered (notes, images, videos, etc...) will all be deleted from our servers forever. So please be careful if you choose to use this feature.

# Create Your First Outlinx Page

There are two ways to create an Outlinx page

## Create A Page By Scanning A New Outlinx Code

If you already have a pack of Outlinx stickers, or something else with an Outlinx code on it, then all you have to do is open the app and scan the code. On the Scan screen a preview will pop-up that says "Create a new Outlinx page", tap the preview, and you'll be presented with a blank Outlinx page. Here you can enter any information you want. Give it a title, some text notes, or add an image or video. Hit the "Save" button in the upper right of the screen to save the page. This Outlinx page is now linked to the Outlinx code you scanned.

During the initial page creation process you'll also see an "X" in the upper left of the screen. If you want to discard the page simple hit the "X" and the new page will be deleted.

## Create A Page Thru The Folders Screen

You can also create a new Outlinx page without scanning a fresh Outlinx code. To do this go to the Folders screen, and tap the "+" button in the upper right. Choose "Add Note", and you'll be presented with a blank Outlinx page. You can enter information, save, or discard your new page in the same way that's described above.

If you create a new page using this method it won't automatically be linked to an Outlinx code. So you have to link it manually. To link the page to a code, simply open the page, open the ellipses menu (3 dots in upper right of screen), then tap the option "Link to Outlinx QR Code". When the Scan screen opens just scan the Outlinx code you want to link the page to. The scan preview will pop up with a message that says "Tap to Link". Just tap that preview message and the page is now linked to the code. You'll receive an on-screen notification that says "Linked" if done successfully.

# FAQ

Some frequently asked questions for newbies.

## Can I view a page without using the mobile app?

Yes you can. The native camera app in most modern smartphones contains a QR code reader. You may have to enable it in the setting on your device. If enabled simply open your phone's camera and capture an Outlinx QR code on the display. Your camera app will indicate that it recognizes the QR code. Tap on the scan preview, and you should be able to view the Outlinx page in a web browser. Without the mobile app you can only view the Notes space. You won't be able to interact with Outlinx pages unless you use the mobile app.

## Can I make certain Outlinx codes private? Or can anyone scan them and view the page they're linked to?

No, not yet. Currently anybody who scans an Outlinx QR code can view the page that it's linked to. However, there's no way for users to view a page without scanning it which means they have to be in the physical presence of the Outlinx QR, or have a picture of it.

We do want to enable private Outlinx pages and Outlinx QR codes in the future.

## Is there a desktop app I can use to manage my Outlinx? Or do I have to do everything thru the mobile app?

No, not yet. Currently the only way to interact with Outlinx pages is thru the mobile app. We would like to build a web app that can be used on a desktop/laptop in the future.

## Can I export my data?

No, not yet. This is another feature we'd like to add in the future.

## Can I delete my data?

Yes, you can delete your account anytime. To button to delete your account is on the User Settings screen. Se the User Settings section of these instructions for more details.

## Is there a subscription fee or do you plan on making Outlinx a subscription service in the future?

Nope. No subscription is necessary to use the Outlinx mobile app. We plan on leaving the currently available features free.

## If I use Outlinx to remember what's in my storage bins, then will everyone who uses the app know what I have in my storage bins?

Nope. There's no way for users to view a page without scanning it which means they have to be in the physical presence of the Outlinx QR, or have a picture of it. In other words, there's no way to do a search in the mobile app and find user's pages that you haven't already scanned and saved.

## I still have questions.

Feel free to email us at <support@outlinx.app> . We usually respond within 12 hours or less.

# Outlinx Pages

Outlinx pages contain three spaces. Check out this information to learn more.

# The Notes Space

All about the Notes space

By default all Outlinx pages open to the Notes space. The icon for the Notes space looks like a note page and it's in the center of the bottom page navigation menu. You can tap those icons to move between the Notes space, Media space, and Comments space.

## Creating & Customizing Notes

Give your pages a title. You can also add emoji's to make them a little more interesting. Change your title anytime just by tapping on the title and editing the text.

Tap anywhere on the Notes area to open up the keyboard and keyboard toolbar. The keyboard is a regular touchscreen keyboard. The keyboard toolbar lives above the keyboard. This toolbar is where you can find the buttons to add images, videos, links, timestamps, break lines, bullet lists, number lists, and to stylize your text. Customize your Notes so they work best for your purposes.

Tip: if you tap on the Notes area and the keyboard toolbar doesn't open, that means you don't have editing permissions for the page. This can happen for a couple reasons: 1) You're not signed in to an Outlinx account. 2) The page is owned by another user who turned the setting "Allow anyone to edit" to off.

## Adding Images & Videos to the Notes Space

Add images & videos thru the menu in the keyboard toolbar. There are two ways to add images: 1) by using your camera to capture a picture thru the app. 2) by picking an image from your phone's photo library. If you use your phone's camera to take a picture it will automatically get saved to the photos app on your device, but first you do have to give the app permission to do so on your device.

There are three ways to add videos: 1) by using your camera to capture a video thru the app. 2) by picking a video from your phone's photo library. 3) by adding a link to a YouTube video. Uploaded videos must be 150MB or less, and you can only upload videos to an Outlinx page if the page is linked to an Outlinx code. If you add a link to a YouTube video it can be any length, and the page doesn't have to be linked. If you use your phone's camera to capture a video it will automatically get saved to your devices photos app, but first you do have to give the app permission to do so on your device.

You can delete images & videos simply by placing the cursor after it, and tapping the keyboard backspace button. In other words, you delete images & videos the same way you delete text. When you delete an image or video it is removed from our servers forever.

## Adding Links from URLs to the Notes Space

Add URL links thru the menu in the keyboard toolbar. There are two ways to add URL links to the Notes space: 1) insert a website thumbnail link. 2) insert a text link. For both methods simply enter a URL into the field.

The website thumbnail link option will automatically generate a thumbnail image and add it to the Notes area. Use this option if you want a visual thumbnail to go with the link. Not all links generate a background image for this thumbnail. When background images aren't available we'll use a purple placeholder.

The text link option just adds a simple text link. You can also enter custom text for the link if you want to simplify it. Text links will appear purple in the Notes space.

## Editing the Notes Space

There are a few things to know about editing the Notes space. If the Notes icon in the bottom menu bar has the pencil then you are able edit it. If the pencil is not there that means you don't have permission to edit this note page.

To edit the Notes space, assuming you have the permission, simply tap anywhere on the page to open up the keyboard and keyboard toolbar.

You'll always have permission to edit any Outlinx page that you create. If you open an Outlinx page that you didn't create, you may or may not have permission to edit it. The owner of the page can choose if they want to allow others to edit the page in the ellipses menu.

## Media Limit for the Notes Space

You can only add 5 images, videos, or thumbnails (aka media) directly to the Notes space. This is a current technical limitation. In the future we'd love to remove this limitation. If you want to add lots of media you can add it to the Media space.

## Autosave Feature

After initially saving an Outlinx page you'll notice the "Save" button is no longer there. This is because your page is being automatically saved as you make edits. You don't need to take any action to save your page edits.

## Notifications for Page Edits

If you're sharing an Outlinx page with other users, you can be notified anytime there are updates to a particular page. To enable these notifications just tap the ellipses menu for the page and set "Notifications for Page Edits" to on. Or set this to off to disable these notifications.

When there's a new notification you'll see a red dot (badge) on the Notifications space icon. Also, if you go to the Notifications space you'll see a list of all notifications in order from newest to oldest (top to bottom).

# The Media Space

All about the Media space

The icon for the Media space looks like an image with a play button and it's on the left of the bottom page navigation menu. You can tap those icons to move between the Notes space, Media space, and Comments space.

Use this space to add any media that doesn't fit in the Notes space. You can also group media and give groups a title for further organization.

## Creating a Media Group

To start adding media to the Media space simply tap on the grey tile with the purple "+" symbol. Then you'll be presented with a menu where you can choose what type of media you'd like to upload. There are five options. See the Media Types section below. For each option a media tile is created. When you tap on the media tile it will open the full version.

Media is automatically added to a group. You can have a single group or many. Groups are intended as a way to organize your media. For iOS users to rename the group title tap and hold on the title, then you'll be presented with a menu that allows you to "Rename" the group. For Android users to rename a group title just tap on the title, then you'll be presented with a menu that allows you to "Rename" the group.

## Media Types

1\) Use Camera to Take Photo: With this option you'll capture a new photo with your phone's camera and it will automatically be added to the Media space. If you enabled the proper app permissions for the Outlinx app, the photo will also be automatically saved to your device's photos app. This option uploads the image to our server.

2\) Use Camera to Record Video: With this option you'll capture a new video with your phone's camera and it will automatically be added to the Media space. If you enabled the proper app permissions for the Outlinx app, the video will also be automatically saved to your device's photos app. Videos added this way must be 150MB or less. This option uploads the video to our server.

3\) Pick Image/Video from Library: With this option you'll pick an existing image/video from your device's photos library. Videos added this way must be 150MB or less.

4\) Add YouTube Video from URL: With this option you'll enter the URL for a YouTube video, and that video will be linked to the media tile. The app will automatically create a tile using info from the link address. If no background image is available the app will add a purple placeholder.

5\) Add Website Link from URL: With this option you'll enter the URL for a website or other weblink, and it will be linked to the media tile. The app will automatically create a tile using info from the link address. If no background image is available the app will add a purple placeholder.

## Media Group Menu Editing and Options

There are a number of things you can do to edit the Media space to make it work best for your purposes.

1\) Media Group Menu: The media group menu offers three options listed below. To open the media group menu on iOS tap and hold on the group title, and the menu will be presented. To open the media group menu on Android simply tap on the group title, and the menu will be presented.

* Rename a media group title: Choose this option to rename a media group. Simply give it a date, or enter a title that describes something about the media in that group.
* Delete a media group: Choose this option if you'd like to delete the group and all of the media in the group. When you delete your media it's deleted from our servers forever.
* Reorder a media group: If you have multiple groups in your Media space, you can reorder them. When you choose this option you'll be presented with a list of all the groups in your Media space, and you can drag the items in the list to order them how you desire.

2\) Move media tiles: You can move tiles in a group, and move tiles between groups. To move tiles on iOS, tap and hold on a tile until it flashes, then drag and drop it to the desired location. To move tiles on Android, tap and hold on a tile until it shrinks twice (if haptics are on you'll also feel 2x pulses), then drag and drop it to the desired location.

3\) Add media groups: To add another media group tap the "+ ADD GROUP" button, which is below the last media group. Or to add the first media group tap the grey tile with the purple "+" symbol to add an item of media and the first group will automatically be created.

## Media Tile Menu Options

There are a couple things you can do with media tiles as well. To open the media tile menu on iOS tap and hold on a media tile (longer than the first flash) until the menu is presented. To open the media tile menu on Android tap and hold on a media tile until it shrinks once (if haptics are on you'll also feel 1x pulse) and the menu will be presented.

* You can download media from a media tile. This only applies to images & videos that were uploaded (ie you can't download linked YouTube videos, or weblinks).
* You can delete an individual media tile. When you choose to do this the media will be deleted from our servers.

# The Comments Space

All about the Comments space

The icon for the Comments space looks like a comment bubble and it's on the right of the bottom page navigation menu. You can tap those icons to move between the Notes space, Media space, and Comments space.

Use this space to post a comment to an Outlinx page. This feature comes in handy when sharing an Outlinx with multiple people. You can choose if you'd like to receive notifications when other users post a comment on a page you either own or have saved. The Comments space can also be turned off for a page if it's not needed.

## Posting a Comment

Posting a comment is pretty straight forward. Just go to the Comments space and tap on the field that says "Write Comment". The keyboard will then open and you can start typing. When you're finished writing your comment, and want to send it just tap the small purple button on the right.

## Adding Media to a Comment

You can also add media to a comment. To do so just tap the icon that looks like an image placeholder to the left of the comment field. That will open up a menu where you can choose what kind of media to add. This works the same way it does on the Media space. Please refer to the "Media Space" page in this user guide if you'd like to see a description of the different types of media.

## Deleting a Comment

If you posted a comment, and you want to delete it, simply swipe left on the comment and hit the red "Delete" button. To do this the comment has to be in the feed.

## Turning Comments Off

Owners of an Outlinx page can turn off the Comments space for the page. To do this the owner of the page should set "Comments enabled" to off in the ellipses menu.

## Notifications for Comments

For pages you either created or saved, you can set "Notifications for comments" to either on or off. You can find this option in the ellipses menu for the Outlinx page. When a user has "Notifications for comments" set to on for a page, they will receive a notification anytime another user posts a comment to that page.

## Sorting Comments

You can sort the list of comments. This is useful for Outlinx pages that have a lot of comments on them. There are two sorting options:

* Recent: This option sorts the list of comments from oldest at the top, to newest at the bottom, and automatically scrolls to the most recent comment.
* Likes: This option sorts the list of comments from most liked at the top, to least liked at the bottom, and automatically scrolls to the most liked comment. Liked comments are ones where another user tapped the heart (aka like) button.

## Reporting Comments

If someone posted a comment to a page and you want to get it removed you can report it. Simply swipe left on the comment, and hit the green "Report" button. Outlinx support will receive a notification and we can take care of it.

# Settings For Outlinx Pages

Special options for Outlinx pages

You have control over a number of settings for Outlinx pages. These can be found in the ellipses menu. You'll see different options depending on if you are the owner of the page (ie you created it), you saved it, or if you're just viewing it.

## Page Metrics

At the top of the menu you'll see some useful metrics. Here you can see the user name of the creator of the page. Below the username you'll see the word "Owner" to indicate that this is the user who created and therefore owns the page. You can also see how many times the Outlinx code that the page is linked to has been scanned, and also how many times this Outlinx page has been visited.

## Allow anyone to edit

If you're the owner of the page you'll see the option for "Allow anyone to edit". If you set it to on then anyone who opens the page can edit the contents on the page. If you set it to off then no other users, other than you, can edit the Outlinx page.

If you choose to set "Allow anyone to edit" to on, then the button "Notification for page edits" will become activated. Set "Notifications for page edits" to on to receive notifications anytime another user edits the page. Set this option to off if you don't want to receive notifications for page edits.

## Comments enabled

If you're the owner of the page you'll see the option for "Comments enabled". By default this option is set to on, which enables the Comments space. You can disable the Comments space for a page by turning this option off.

If you choose to set "Comments enabled" to on, then the button "Notification for comments" will become activated. Set "Notification for comments" to on to receive comments anytime another user posts a comment to the page. Set this option to off if you don't want to receive notifications for new comments.

## Users must request to save

If you're the owner of the page you'll see the option for "Users must request to save". This feature allows the owner of an Outlinx page some control over who can save the page they've created. By default this option is set to off.

When this option is turned on other users, who open this page, cannot save the page to their Folders without being approved by the owner of the page. In this case when another user does request to save the page you (the owner) will receive a notification that someone requested to save the page, and you can choose to approve the request or deny it. The user who requested to save the page will not see the page in their Folders list until it's been approved. The requestor will receive a notification when their request has been approved or denied.

When this option is turned off, then any user who opens the page is able to save it to their Folders for future reference. In this case other users can save the page without any approval by you (the owner).

Remember that currently the only way for a user to open an Outlinx page is if they first scan an Outlinx code that's linked to the page. There's currently no way to share pages directly from the app. And there's no way for users to search for pages, that they haven't already scanned and saved, directly from the app.

## Manage save requests

This option is only available if you're the owner of the page and the option "Users must request to save" is set to on. When the icon is purple there are save requests to approve or deny. When the icon is grey there are no save requests to take care of. When you tap this option you'll be presented with the "Save Requests" manager screen.

The upper portion of the "Save Requests" manager screen shows any user who has requested to save this page. Next to the user are two buttons. Choose "yes" if you want to approve their save request. Choose "no" if you want to deny their request.

The lower portion of the screen shows all of the users who have been approved to save the page. In other words these are the users who have the page saved to their Folders. You can remove a person from the list by swiping left on the user's name and tapping the red delete button. When you remove a person from this list you're essentially saying you don't want them to have the page saved to their Folders anymore. So the page will be deleted from their Folders, they won't be able to access the page without scanning the Outlinx code it's linked to, and they will receive a notification about the change of status.

## Link to Outlinx QR Code

Use this feature if you want to link the page to an Outlinx QR code. You can link pages to as many Outlinx QR codes as you want, but Outlinx QR codes can only be linked to one page or folder at a time.

When you tap this button you'll be presented with the Scan screen. Now just scan the Outlinx code you want to link the page to. The scan preview will pop up with a message that says "Tap to Link". Just tap that preview message and the page is now linked to the Outlinx QR code. You'll receive an on-screen notification that says "Linked" if done successfully.

## Find linked Outlinx QR codes

You can use this feature to help find the Outlinx QR code that's linked to the page. When you tap this button you'll be presented with the Scan screen. You can scan different Outlinx QR codes one by one and the preview message will tell you when the correct linked code has been scanned.

## Save to your Folders

You'll see this option if you scan an Outlinx QR code that's linked to a page that another user owns, and the page has "Users must request to save" set to off. Tap this button and the Outlinx page will be saved to your Folders list. Once the page is in your Folders list you can open it anytime directly from the app (without scanning the Outlinx QR code).

## Request to save to Folders

You'll see this option if you scan an Outlinx QR code that's linked to a page that another user owns, and the page has "Users must request to save" set to on. Tap this button and the owner of the page will be notified that you'd like to save the page. The owner of the page then has to approve or deny the request. Once the owner has taken action on the save request you, the requestor, will be notified.

# Folders

Learn all about the Folders screen

The button for the Folders area can be found in the main navigation menu, at the bottom of the screen, on the left. You can use the buttons in the main navigation menu to switch between the Folders area, the Scan screen, and the Notifications area.

Folders is where you can organize the Outlinx pages you either create or save. When you create an Outlinx page it automatically gets added to your Folders list. Also, when you save another user's page it gets added to your Folders list. To help keep your Outlinx pages organized you can create folders for them. You can also search for your Outlinx pages on the Folders screen.

On the Folders screen you'll see a list of Outlinx pages and folders. Pages have a white background and display the title and first couple lines of text on the page. Folders have a colored background and display the title and number of Outlinx pages the folder contains.

## Creating & Editing Folders

To create a folder for your Outlinx pages, just go to the Folders screen and tap the "+" button in the upper right of the screen. This will present a menu where you can choose to create a new note page, or create a new folder. Tap "New Folder", then give your folder a name, and choose a background color. Then hit the "SAVE" button in the upper right of the screen to finish setting up the folder. The folder is now created, and you should see it in your Folders list.

Adding Outlinx pages to a folder is simple. On the Folders screen find the page in your list, swipe left on it, and tap the green "move to folder" button. In the select folder menu, just pick the folder you'd like to move the page to.

We also support nested folders. So you can put folders inside of folders. The process is the same as adding a page to a folder. On the Folders screen find the folder in your list, swipe left on it, and tap the green "move to folder" button. In the select folder menu, just pick the folder you'd like to move the folder to.

If you open a folder you'll also see a "+" button in the upper right of the screen. You can use this "+" button to create a new item (note page or folder) that will automatically get added to the open folder.

## The Search Function

The search bar lives at the top of the Folders list. If you don't see it simply scroll to the top of the Folders screen. You can enter any text into the search bar and it will search all of the Outlinx pages inside that folder, and inside subfolders within that folder. If you do a search from the root Folder screen it will search all of the Outlinx pages in your account.

The search results will list all of the Outlinx pages and folders that contain the text entered into the search bar. If an item exists inside of a folder there are some breadcrumbs at the bottom of the item tile to help indicate where in the hierarchy of folders that particular item lives.

## Link Folder to Outlinx QR Code

You can link a folder to an Outlinx QR code. Linking a folder works the same as linking a page.

To link a folder to an Outinx code, simply open the folder, open the ellipses menu (3 dots in upper right of screen), then tap the option "Link to Outlinx QR Code". When the Scan screen opens just scan the Outlinx code you want to link the folder to. The scan preview will pop up with a message that says "Tap to Link". Just tap that preview message and the folder is now linked to the code. You'll receive an on-screen notification that says "Linked" if done successfully.

## Sorting the Folders List

There are a couple ways to sort your list on the Folders screen. The sorting buttons live at the top of the Folders screen.

* Custom Sort: By default new pages and folders get added to the top of the Folders list. You can also drag and drop items to reorder them. Tap and hold on an item then drag it to a new spot in the list. The "Custom" sort view will display your list however you've ordered it.
* Alphabetical Sort: View "Alphabetical" sort if you'd like to see your Folders list in alphabetical order. From top to bottom the list will be organized from A to Z.

These sorting views are also available for nested folders.

## Options for Items in the Folders List

Swipe left on an item in the Folders list to access the menu buttons.

* Move To Folder (Green): Tap this button to move the item to a folder. This button is available when you swipe left on both pages and folders.
* Delete (Red): Tap this button to delete the item. If you delete an Outlinx page the text and media will be deleted. If you delete a folder, you can choose to either keep all the pages & folders within it, or delete all of the pages & folders within it. This button is available when you swipe left on both pages and folders.
* Rename Folder (Blue): Tap this button to edit the name or color of a folder. This button is only available when you swipe left on a folder.

## Folder Settings

Open a folder and tap the ellipses button (3 dots) in the upper right of the screen to view the folder settings menu. See the section "Folder Settings" in this guide for more details.

## Scanning an Outlinx Code That is Linked to a Folder

When you scan an Outlinx QR code that is linked to a folder you will see the contents of the folder (ie all of the pages and subfolders within it).

If you're the owner of the folder and you swipe left on an item in the list you'll see the three options described in "Options for the Items in the Folders list".

If you're not the owner of the folder and you swipe left on a page in the list, you'll see a button that allows you to either save the page or request to save the page to your Folders. The button you see depends on the state of the option "Users must request to save" for the page which is set by the owner of the page.

Currently i you scan an Outlinx code that's linked to a folder there is currently no way to save the entire folder. If you scan an Outlinx code that's linked to a folder, and you want to copy the entire folder, you have to save each page one by one, create a folder, and add the pages to the folder.

## User Settings

The user settings menu lives in the upper left of the Folders screen. Tap it to access your account-level settings. See the User Settings section for more details.

# Settings for Outlinx Folders

Special options for Outlinx folders

You have control over a few settings for Outlinx folders. These can be found in the ellipses menu. You'll see different options depending on if you are the owner of the page (ie you created it), or if you're just viewing it.

At the top of the menu you'll see the owner or creator of the folder. Android users - currently the owner is not visible on the folder settings menu.

## Link to Outlinx QR Code

Only the owner of the folder can link it to an Outlinx code. Use this feature if you want to link a folder to an Outlinx QR code. You can link folders to as many Outlinx QR codes as you want, but Outlinx QR codes can only be linked to one page or folder at a time.

When you tap this button you'll be presented with the Scan screen. Now just scan the Outlinx code you want to link the folder to. The scan preview will pop up with a message that says "Tap to Link". # Notifications

Notifications are powerful when sharing Outlinx with other users.

There are a number of notifications you can receive in Outlinx. We tried to give you as much control over notifications as possible. You can turn on or off notifications for most triggers. The button for the Notifications screen can be found in the main navigation menu, at the bottom of the screen, on the right. You can use the buttons in the main navigation menu to switch between the Folders area, the Scan screen, and the Notifications area.

To receive notifications on your device, outside the app, you need to give the Outlinx app permission to push notifications to your device. You can do this from the settings menu on your device, or from the User Settings menu in the Outlinx mobile app.

If you don't allow Outlinx permission to push notifications to your device, you'll still receive in-app notifications in the form of a badge on the Notifications button and by looking at the list on the Notifications screen. Notifications aren't necessary, but they're useful if you're sharing Outlinx with multiple users.

# The Scan Screen

Learn all about scanning Outlinx QR Codes

The button for the Scan screen can be found in the main navigation menu, at the bottom of the screen, on the left. When you first open the app it will open to the Scan screen by default. You can use the buttons in the main navigation menu to switch between the Folders area, the Scan screen, and the Notifications area.

## The Basics of Scanning

In order to use the Scan screen you must give Outlinx permission to access the camera in your device. To scan an Outlinx QR code simply get it in focus on the screen and a preview message will pop up. This preview provides some basic information about the QR code you scanned.

It's important to have enough light to scan and read any QR code. If you need more light you can turn on your device's flash by hitting the button in the upper right of the screen. It looks like a lightning bolt.

## Scan Preview Messages

These are the messages you'll see when using the Outlinx mobile app to scan QR codes.

* Create a new Outlinx: You'll see this message if you scan a brand new Outlinx QR code. Tap the preview to create a new page, and the page will be automatically linked to the code.
* A preview of the Outlinx page: If you see a small preview of an Outlinx page, that means you scanned an Outlinx QR code that is already linked to a page. Tap the preview to open the page.
* [www.outlinx.app](http://www.outlinx.app): If you see this it means you scanned a QR code that will take you to the Outlinx website. Tap the preview to visit [www.outlinx.app](http://www.outlinx.app)
* this is not an Outlinx: You'll see this if you scan a QR code that's not an Outlinx QR code.
* Error, Oops Outlinx not recognized: You shouldn't see this message. This means you scanned an Outlinx QR code that was used for development purposes.

## Unlink An Outlinx QR Code

You can also unlink an Outlinx QR code from a page. To do this scan an Outlinx QR code, and when the preview pops up, tap and hold on it for a few seconds. Then a menu will appear asking if you'd like to unlink the Outlinx QR code.

When you unlink an Outlinx QR code from a page, the QR code will return to a brand new unused state. At this point you're free to link another page to it.

We've built some account-level User Settings to give you more control over your Outlinx experience.

## Username, Email & Password

If you created an account by entering an email and password you can tap on the name below your profile pic to change the user name, email, or password for your account. If you created an account using Google sign in, Apple sign in, or Facebook sign in then the email and password associated with your account are controlled by the service that provided the sign in method.

# Troubleshooting

Having trouble? Look here for answers. Or feel free to send us an email at support\@outlinx.app

## Help, I signed in to my account and it looks empty. Where are all the pages and folders I created?

Don't worry the information you created is still there. You most likely created a new account by accident. And all of the pages and folders you created were under a different account. On the "SIGN UP | LOG IN" screen be sure to select "LOG IN" and log in with the method you used to create your Outlinx pages and folders. If you can't remember you can email us at <support@outlinx.app> and we can help you track down the account you're looking for.

(This actually happens pretty often, and I blame the UI for the SIGN UP | LOG IN screen. Sorry that's our fault. We'll fix it next time there's an opportunity.)

## I created a new account but never received the confirmation email.

Please send an email to <support@outlinx.app> from the email you used to create the account. We can activate it for you. Sorry, these emails can sometimes get blocked by your email servers.

## I accidentally created multiple accounts, and I want to move all of my pages and folders to one account.

No problem we can help. Please send an email to <support@outlinx.app> and let us know the pages you'd like to move, and the account you'd like to move them to. Unfortunately, for now we can't move entire folders.

## How do I change the name of a folder? Or delete a folder?

On the Folders screen you can swipe left on a folder to access the folder menu buttons. Tap the blue button to rename a folder. Or tap the red button to delete a folder.
